About the star ratings. CMS publishes an overall star rating only for hospital classes its methodology covers. Psychiatric, children's, long-term, Rural Emergency and Department of Defense hospitals receive no rating at all, and only 29% of Critical Access hospitals do. “Not rated” is therefore a statement about the measurement programme, not about the hospital.
